12 Chinese basic radical characters

I have transformed the ancient Chinese character drawings into modern Chinese characters. These characters are pictograms — stylised drawings of the objects they represent.

I am going to show you how to use these characters to build and form new words and phrases in the coming post.

Modern Simplified Chinese characters







You would wonder “How many of these pictogram characters are there?” They are roughly 600 Chinese characters are pictograms.

They developed from a pictographic writing system in use more than 4,000 years ago.

The picture below shows the different fonts being used at different time.  They are sun, moon, water, mountain, rain and tree. The first left collum is original ancient font and the right collum is the modern font.
