Adults Classes

Have you tried to learn Mandarin Chinese and found it was too hard to learn the Chinese characters?  We can help you to get over this.

To find a better and a fun way to teach my students, I have developed this visual method inspired by Pictograms – i.e. pictures that represent Chinese characters.

In less than 10 minutes, you will be able to learn more than 10 Chinese Characters which are basic Chinese radicals. I normally draw this picture in front of my students and ask them what they think the drawings represent. Then I change the drawings into modern Chinese characters. Without noticing, the students learn at least 10 Chinese Characters easily.

Once you can recognise a few groups of basic characters, you are then able to combine them and easily learn dozens of additional characters. By repeating this process , you can quickly learn several hundred characters in a surprisingly short time.  That’s enough for many practical uses, such as reading road signs and restaurant menus as well as grasping the gist of newspaper articles and web sites.

Here are some examples of pictures representing characters taken from our teaching materials.

As well as learning Chinese there will be some Chinese cultural lessons including Chinese tea ceremony and hands on Chinese calligraphy to make learning more fun.
